Stacks of exams and a better idea
Jeremy Durelle teaches Chemistry and Physics at a university in Dubuque, Iowa. Like every professor, he loves the classroom — the questions, the "aha" moments, the students who stay after to dig deeper. What he didn't love was what came after: hours spent hunched over stacks of exams and lab reports on evenings and weekends, long after his students had gone home.
He wasn't looking for a shortcut. He was looking for a way to keep doing the part of his job that actually matters. So he built one.
ScoreWise AI started as a personal project — a way to handle the repetitive, time-consuming parts of grading while keeping Jeremy completely in control of every final score. It worked. And once it did, he knew other teachers needed it too.
"I didn't want to hand grading off to a machine. I wanted a smart assistant that did the heavy lifting while I made the calls."
ScoreWise is built under Fusion Labs LLC, a small software shop Jeremy founded to bring practical tools to educators. The product is designed to work for any subject — not just STEM — because grading fatigue doesn't discriminate by discipline.

Jeremy teaches Chemistry and Physics at a university in Dubuque, Iowa. He built ScoreWise after one too many late nights grading when he should have been preparing for class — or, frankly, sleeping. He believes the best edtech is invisible: it handles the busywork and gets out of the way so teachers can teach.
